The Oregon Consensus Program (OCP) is the State of Oregon's program to provide mediation and other alternative dispute resolution services to public bodies and persons who have disputes with public bodies throughout state. Our Mission is to move Oregon to more effective and more collaborative approaches for public decision-making, implementation and conflict resolution by:
- Resolving conflicts and developing policies involving public issues collaboratively and effectively.
- Engaging citizens and governments to solve problems and develop solutions together.
- Decreasing costs of resolving disputes involving public issues.
- Adding to the knowledge base about effective collaborative approaches.
- Building the capacity in the state for collaborative problem solving, mediation and facilitation.
The OCP is the state's continuation of the Public Policy Dispute Resolution Program of the former Oregon Dispute Resolution Commission (ODRC), which was abolished by the 2003 Oregon Legislature. The OCP was created within the National Policy Consensus Center of the Hatfield School of Government at Portland State University when the Legislature assigned the program to the Hatfield School.
