Meeting Information
Salons held at Portland State University in February and October 2009 brought together three dozen representatives of Latino community organizations and agencies from across Oregon to collaborate on identifying an "Oregon Latino Agenda for Action." The agenda will support the efforts of a network of Latino community organizations, and establish statewide strategic priorities for meeting the over-arching needs of the growing number of Latino families in Oregon. Salon participants expressed overwhelming support for the project, and a planning committee has been formed to identify next steps. In March 2009, a group of salon participants participated in a discussion about Latino community needs, hosted by Portland State University President Wim Wiewel. The Oregon Latino Agenda for Action salon was hosted by Portland State University's School of Community Health and the Multnomah County Health Department, and was facilitated by Oregon Consensus.
