DESCHUTES BASIN WATER MANAGEMENT WORK GROUP

MISSION & GOALS

(adopted 3/5/07)

 

MISSION:  The Work Group shall, using collaborative and transparent processes, develop a water allocation and management strategy for the Deschutes River Basin that restores and protects in-stream values while meeting current and future water demands in a balanced, economically viable, and sustainable manner.

GOALS:

The strategy will address the following primary goals:

  • Restore, shape, and protect in-stream flows to meet the biological needs of fish populations and other aquatic life, water quality, and physical stream processes;
  • Maintain a reliable supply of water to sustain agriculture, while securing more reliable junior agricultural water rights; and
  • Secure a safe, reliable, and high quality water supply for urban communities.
